PRIORITY

This past week has left me with mixed emotions. I was able to take some positive and specific steps in decisions and actions that resolved a few outstanding things that will need to happen with moving and preparing to do so. Even so there is much more to do and that can lead all to quickly to the path of worry or anxiety.

I have found that getting specific and writing down all that must be done is a good first step. Although this exercise can be overwhelming, sometimes this action brings clarity and I know that many people I’ve worked with over the years has found this to be helpful as there are times when they have realized the tasks are actually fewer or easier than when they were just random thoughts.

The other thing I like about this action is that when you have a list in black and white you can begin to set priorities on what thing needs to be tackled first and so on. I would avoid getting bogged down in the order of precedence if there are two or three things that all seem to take priority. Just having the list in front of you will help you to begin to find real solutions and you can annotate actions you have taken towards your progress.

Although setting priorities doesn’t make the task go away, it is a powerful tool to help you determine what is most important, allowing you to spend time and energy on things that need to get done soonest. The bottom line is not to give up but keep finding ways to take small steps to bring about the change you desire.
